42 students from a mix of years 9 and 10 took part in a 2hour workshop themed around human rights, law, security and politics. In partnership with Goldsmith’s University and Shoutout UK, students were led through a very informative lecture and debate by the excellent and knowledgeable Lucie. The day got them to critically evaluate the current state of affairs regarding our human rights, the European Union and how Brexit could change these for better or worse. Having been present throughout both workshops it is clear to me that we have some well informed and strongly opinionated pupils here at Stoke Newington School. At the end of the session, students were given a brief talk about possible careers and pathways through education relating to this subject content. Following the success of this day, we hope to run similar workshops in the future, keep your ears to the ground for info.
