Dear Parent/Carers,

I start this week’s letter by thanking you for all of your support in helping our young people transition back into the school routine. We hope that home testing has started well and a reminder to repeat the test on Wednesday evening. Should your child’s test be positive, please inform the school as soon as possible.

National Day of Reflection - Tuesday 23 March 2021

As like the rest of the community, the school will join in with the nation’s one minute silence at midday tomorrow to mark the anniversary of the first lockdown as organised by the charity Marie Curie.

Year 8 Parents’ Evening

On Wednesday this week, we will be holding Year 8 Parents’ Evening. If you have not done so already, please do book meetings with your child’s teachers using this link here

Parent Forum – Supporting Your Child’s Return

On Monday 29th March at 6pm, we will be holding a forum in conjunction with our Education Psychologists who will be giving practical advice on the following:

  • Sleep, nutrition, and physical activity
  • Accessing therapeutic and external services
  • Maintaining healthy routines and behaviours
  • Executive function skills
  • Balancing screen time

Last Day of Term - Thursday 1 April

The last day of term will be on Thursday 1st April. This will be a full day of teaching with students finishing at their usual time. Students will be expected to wear full school uniform.

One Year On Event

In a week’s time, we will be holding our One Year On event. Please see below message from Mr Amar Bailey, Assistant Headteacher who is leading on the preparation for the evening.

As we approach the anniversary of the of the date of the first lockdown. It is important we come together as a community to commemorate those that have passed, gratitude to all those who have given so much to help others.
We would be honoured to have as many of our community join us at The SNS One Year On Evening which is a virtual event taking place on Thursday 25th 6.00pm – 7.30pm. The evening will exhibit performances and speeches from our students, staff, parents/carers, alumni, local community, and Hackney dignitaries. On the night, please join using the link below:
Photography and art for sale
You can view our online exhibition below, with a selection of photographs and artwork for sale, produced by SNS students. Items can be purchased in advance, on the night of the event and the shop will be open until Monday 29th March. Proceeds raised will be donated to St Joseph’s Hospice, St Anne’s Care Home and Homerton Hospital. Please see below a link to the Virtual gallery and Gallery shop.
Silent Auction
We are privileged to be holding a silent auction for two paintings by renowned local artist, Gina Southgate. Proceeds raised will be donated to St Joseph’s Hospice and St Anne’s Care Home. This is an incredible opportunity so get bidding! To take part in the silent auction, you need to submit the name of the painting on which you are bidding, the amount you'd like to bid, as well as your name and contact number via email to The auction will run throughout the evening 6.00pm – 7.30pm and once closed, items will go to the individual that made the highest bid. Finally, during the last year, the rainbow symbol has become one of the most prominent emblems of hope and positivity at a difficult time.
