Dear Parents/Carers

This week marked the start of our Music Lunch clubs and after-school clubs. Students have an exciting range of extra-curricular activities, such as music production, drama club with Immediate Theatre, non-contact boxing and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) club. We hope student’s gain much valuable learning from these opportunities.

Early Finish – Wednesday 2nd October at 2.10pm

On Wednesday 2nd October 2024 we will be holding our annual Open Evening for prospective Year 6 students and their parent/carers. To allow time for staff to prepare, students will be dismissed after lunch at 2.10pm. Work will be set on ClassCharts for Period 5 for students to complete.

The following day, Thursday 3rd October 2024 will be a normal start for all students.

Upcoming Parent/Carer Forums – Various Dates as below – On Site in the Theatre

Year 9 and 10 Parent/Carers Relational Development Forum – 5.00pm – 6.00pm

This forum will provide an introduction to the Relational Development curriculum being delivered at SNS this academic year for Year 9 and 10 students.

Parent/Carers of SEND Students Forum – Wednesday 9th October 2024 – 5.00pm – 6.00pm

Our forum for parent/carers of students with special educational needs and diagnosis (SEND) will introduce the Inclusion Team, restorative practice and curriculum, as well as the outline for staff training for this academic year.

Parent/Carer Participation for Black History Month

As Black History Month approaches, we are excited to announce this year’s theme: "Reclaiming Narratives." This is an invitation to all members of the Black community to take part in shaping how stories are told, with a special focus on celebrating Black achievement.

SNS Food Bank – Friday 4th October 2024

The first Food Bank Friday for this academic year will be on Friday 4th October 2024. If you are able to, please can students bring in one or more non-perishable items from the list below to give to give to their Form Tutor. The donated items are used to support families in our immediate community. Additionally, there is an option to donate financially if able to via ParentPay.

Celebrating East and South East Asian Heritage Month and the Language of the Month (Filipino)

This week, SNS library celebrated the start of the Mid-Autumn Festival (also known as the Moon or Mooncake Festival) with craft workshops, quizzes, and folk music, creating a vibrant experience of East and South East Asian Culture. On Monday, there will be a prize draw to win a signed copy of a book by authors Eva Wong Nava and Nadia Mikail.

Sixth Form Culture Day – Friday 18th October 2024

Sixth Formers will gather in annual celebration of culture, music and cuisine on Friday 18th October. A letter will follow shortly with further information.

This week’s theme of the week has focused on ‘Culture and Respect’. Students in Year 10 shared the following ‘Thought of the Day’ by Barack Obama.
