Start of Academic Year 2023 – 2024

I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer break. It is great welcoming the students back into the school and a special mention to our Year 7 and Year 12 students, particularly those who are new to the school who have started with enthusiasm and determination. With a week of induction and transition back into learning, students have settled in well into a full day of teaching today and are excited to see what this term brings.

We started the academic year with staff training on a range of educational themes, including special educational needs best practices, inclusion and diversity, and teaching and learning.

Results 2023

I start by congratulating our students, parents/carers and teachers on the positive outcomes at both GCSE, A Levels and BTECs.

70% of our Year 11 students received 9-4 in both English and Maths. They have worked incredibly hard and shown real strength and resilience during their studies. Whether they received top grades or made incredible progress, every student has engaged positively with their subject teachers and the grades reflect the strong rela- tionships.

It was very rewarding to see happy and smiling faces on results day and we are incredibly excited that so many of our students are staying on in our Sixth Form.

Our staff team has once again shown their commitment to students, giving their all to ensure that the young people attain well and are ready for the next stage in their life. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parent/carers for all their support.

This year, 76% of our students have been accepted into university. They move on to read a range of subjects including Psychology, Law, Biomedical Science, Film, Architecture and Motor Sports Engineering. Students have secured places which include the University of Manchester, the University of Liverpool, Cardiff University, the University of Leeds and Oxbridge places.

We are also pleased that 10% of our students have secured places to Art Foundation courses at institutions in cluding Central St Martins, Prince’s Foundation, and Kingston University, and one of our students is working towards a scholarship to Yale University. We are delighted that the careful personalised attention the school gives to each student has resulted in them moving forward with exciting next steps, which are well tailored for them as individuals.

Headteacher’s Letter

This academic year, my letter will now be sent fortnightly each term. If there are any urgent updates and alerts, you may also receive an additional letter.

Checking your Class Charts Parent/Carer Account
Earlier this week all parent/carers were emailed a letter containing guidance on how to set up their Class Charts Parent Account along with updated Parent Login Pins. Your child’s Class Charts activity acts as our primary method of communication home for behaviour and homework. Therefore, it is important that parents and carers log in weekly. Where possible, we recommend that you download and login via the Parent Class Charts App available on iPhone and Android. Logging in via your child’s account restricts access to other Class Charts features and notifications which we intend to introduce later this year. If you have any questions or have trouble logging in to Class Charts, please contact your child’s tutor directly.

Uniform Reminders

Students are required to wear full school uniform with pride, making for a positive learning environment.

Lanyards and ID Cards
All students must ensure their lanyard and ID card are visible at all times, including students in Sixth Form.

Footwear
Students should wear black leather shoes, not trainers or boots. Please check the website for examples of shoes acceptable to wear.

Hoodies
Students are not permitted to bring hoodies to school and if so, they will be confiscated.

Shorts
Please note that tailored shorts are included on our uniform allowances, however PE shorts are only to be worn within PE lessons. When wearing shorts, students must wear school shoes.

You can find a link to our uniform requirements and suppliers using this link.
