Dear Parent/Carers,

I start today’s letter by giving thanks to the wonderful team who delivered the One Year On event on Thursday last week which was simply incredible; staff, students and members of our wider community delivered such poignant, reflective messages. What amazing talent amongst our SNS staff and students! For those who missed out, please find a link of the recording here.

For those of you who celebrated Holi yesterday, I hope this was a joyous occasion for you and your families.

Parent/Carer Forum on Supporting Your Child’s Return – Monday 29 March 6.00pm – 7.00pm

This evening at 6pm, we will be holding a session led by Katherine Madden, Hackney Educational Psychologist focusing on how parents can support their children returning to school, particular areas being covered are:

  • Practical advice about sleep, nutrition and physical activity
  • Accessing therapeutic and external services
  • Maintaining healthy routines and behaviours
  • Executive functioning skills
  • Balancing screen time

Parent/Carers of SEND Students Forum – Monday 29 March 6.00pm – 7.00pm

Alongside the above forum, we will be holding a forum for parent/carers, which will also be an opportunity to meet our new SENCO starting after the Easter Break, Samara Sherratt.

Last Day of Term - Thursday 1 April

The last day of term is this week Thursday 1st April. This will be a full day of teaching with students finishing at their usual time. Students will be expected to wear full school uniform.

Lateral Flow Testing – Easter Holiday

This week, we will be distributing additional home test kits for students to continue lateral flow testing throughout the Easter break. As always, if your child’s test has a positive result, please email admin@sns.hackney.sch.uk as soon as possible. This inbox is checked 7 days a week, regularly throughout the day, and during the holiday.

Free School Meals

All parents eligible for free school meals will receive their free school meal voucher early next week for the Easter holiday. If you need further advice or support, please email len.lab@sns.hackney.sch.uk or admin@sns.hackney.sch.uk.

Uniform

This term we have spent most of our focus ensuring students have transitioned back to school routine. After Easter, students will be expected to wear full school uniform. A reminder of the uniform requirements and suppliers is here.

Students are not permitted to wear hoodies, and if wearing one, will be confiscated.

As we look forward to more positive times, I end today’s letter with a quote from Helen Keller;
