Headteacher's update - SNS Home Learning - Monday - Week 8

Dear Parent/Carer,

It was lovely to have had some sun this weekend, I hope you managed to enjoy the warmer weather.

Lateral Flow Testing

Thank you for the fantastic response to our request to complete the consent form, with well over 80% of you having responded. Please could any outstanding forms please be completed by Thursday 4^th March for Years 10-13 students and Thursday 11^th March for Years 7 – 9 students. This allows us to prepare beforehand, ensuring a smooth provision on the day.

Today we received the following information from the Department of Education:

“From Monday 1 March, households with primary school, secondary school and college age children, including childcare and support bubbles, can test themselves twice every week at home as schools return from Monday 8 March. Households, childcare and support bubbles of primary, secondary and college staff can also be tested. Twice-weekly testing will also be offered to adults working in the wider school community, including bus drivers and after school club leaders. The twice-weekly test kits can be accessed:

• Via employers if they offer testing to employees
• At a local test site
• By collecting a home test kit from a test site
• By ordering a home test kit online

Schools should not give test kits to parents, carers or household members and should not order more test kits for this purpose. Letters containing advice on where to access testing will be made available for schools to share with parents and staff shortly.”

We will share the information as soon as this arrives.

Parent/Carers with students in Years 10 – 13 will have received the timings for their child’s test, starting next week. We will send similar information to parents of students in Years 7-9 this week.

Ofqual Consultation Outcome

A reminder of the joint parent/carer forum for those with children in Years 11 and 13 will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 2^nd March at 2pm-3pm to discuss the Ofqual Outcomes. Please find the link to the consultation outcomes using this link.

Year 8 Options Evening

This Wednesday 3^rd March at 4pm, we welcome Year 8 parents to our Options Evening. A Teams link has been sent today and you can find a reminder below. This session will explain the options process to both parents and students.

TKTC Parents’ Forum

We will be holding a forum for parent/carers of Turkish, Kurdish and Turkish Cypriot (TKTC) students on Wednesday 3^rd March at 6pm-7pm. The meeting will be mainly focused on discussing the return of pupils to school, school procedures and supporting your child in preparation of the transition from online lessons to learning in school. Our school’s allocated CAMHS worker, Family and Systemic Psychotherapist Duygu Bozkurt will also join us. You can contact Mr Sonkaynar on hal.son@sns.hackney.sch.uk to discuss this meeting.
